The Shakespeare Institute will also share faculty and facilities with the Polemos Academy 2003 Summer Programme. It will have two 3-week Comprehensive Terms: Summer I (July 14 – August 1, 2003) and Summer II (August 4 – August 22, 2003). Each Morning Half-Day focuses on the close reading and literary analysis of selected Shakespearean texts and an examination of their historical context, while the Afternoon Half-Day focuses on the dramatic presentation and staging of parts of plays already studied. These two highly enriching Half-Day programmes thus combine into a Full-Day Programme that offers each student the two essential and reciprocally reinforcing ingredients for a nuanced appreciation of Shakespeare’s genius.
